As of July 1, 2011, Howie began his year long term as President of the ACBA. The traditional passing of the gavel ceremony took place during the bar association’s annual conference on June 17.
A member of the ACBA since 1979, Howie has held numerous leadership positions with the bar association, including Chair of the Judiciary Committee, two terms on the Board of Governors, and as Secretary of the Board. During his term, Howie will continue efforts to strengthen the bar association’s diversity and gender equality programs, as well as better promote the bar’s free legal education programs and Lawyer Referral Service. He also has great interest in promoting the bar association’s Code of Professionalism.
A member of the firm's Litigation Group, Howie’s current focus is on personal injury, civil rights, municipal law and alternative dispute resolution. Well-known for his proficient conciliation skills, Howie is an experienced arbitrator and mediator in the civil litigation field.
