Emily J. Mueller and Kate M. Diersen present at the Allegheny League of Municipalities' Spring Conference at Seven Springs

A tradition of the Allegheny League of Municipalities (ALOM) for over 40 years, the Spring Educational Conference is a key part of the organization's mission to educate local elected officials. The 2018 Spring Educational Conference was held April 6-9 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, PA and was the largest Spring Educational Conference in nearly a decade with 360 delegate attendees.

Emily and Kate presented as part of the Friday session with a program entitled: Modernizing Your Zoning Ordinance: New Trends & Enforcement Tips. Both active Municipal Solicitors, Emily and Kate's vast and experienced knowledge in zoning and land use has provided positive results for their clients.

In addition to her experience with zoning, Emily also assists clients with code enforcement, blight and property maintenance issues and demolition proceedings. Additionally. she has considerable experience with assisting municipal clients with reviewing and responding to requests for public records under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law and handling appeals before the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records.

As a school and municipal solicitor, Kate is experienced in running public meetings and hearings to ensure compliance with the Sunshine Law and local meeting protocol. Kate assists municipal and school clients on everyday issues, as well as more complex labor and employment, code enforcement, blight and compliance, and land use issues. Kate is comfortable in a municipal meeting, as well as in the courtroom, and has successfully argued cases in front of local magistrates, the Court of Common Pleas, and at Commonwealth Court.
