The Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association (PMAA) represents more than 700 municipal authorities across the state, providing an array of services: legal counsel, legislative services, education and training workshops, an annual conference, various insurance and pension programs and various other informative services and publications.
As part of the PMAA's ongoing education and training efforts, it presents an annual Board Member Training that is intended for both new and veteran authority board members. The training is designed to provide a broad overview of key powers, duties, and responsibilities of the board members.
The 2022 Board Member Training session took place on March 18th at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh — Cranberry. GRB Law attorney and solicitor, Kate Diersen, presented as part of the solicitor panel, offering detailed insight and information about land acquisition and eminent domain for authorities. Kate serves as Solicitor to Collier Township, the boroughs of Bradford Woods, Conway, Green Tree, and Oakmont, as well as the Western Allegheny Municipal Authority and the Allegheny Valley Joint Sewage Authority. She also serves as Special Counsel to the City of Aliquippa's planning commission.
